At a home serving adults with borderline to moderate MR, I contacted the local fire department. They modified the educational program they use with school children for my guys. Also, some of my guys put on the turn out gear and helmet, and were allowed to put out a small controlled fire in a metal trashcan using a fire extinguisher. We scheduled extra staff that day for safety purposes and made sure the guys understood the fire safety material before they were allowed to go near the fire extinguisher demonstration. |
