We have a woman with autism in a group home where I am the RN. She was hitting and kicking some of the staff, but not all of the staff and never any of her peers. A specialist in Autism recommended asking all staff to refrain from wearing perfume or lotions with a strong scent to work and it worked. After the fact, we realized that the people she was hitting were the people who wore perfume to work and evidently with her hypersensitivity it was offensive to her. |
