I ran a supported living program whaere an individual did have one on one of my staff. I was very consistent in clarifying boundaries with him. Assigning the staff to also limited tasks or times with him reduced his intrusiveness for a while. Eventually she had to be reassigned. The main things that did eventually work with this individual was to address the issues across all service settings. Clarify boundaries and maintain consistency in interventions and teaching strategies, reinforce natural consequences for inappropriate behaviors, address with individual's circle of support, vary interaction frequency with individual and crushee, stress to individual his or her right to feelings along with the responsibulities to have appropriate social behaviors, provide other outlets to meet people and most of all give it time.TIME, Consistency and Boundaries |
