I work with profoundly challenged individuals who are deaf and blind. 3 CILA's, 18 clients. And i know my agency is the only one in Illinois who does what we do in terms of attempting to provide the most up to date, best practices level of services to our consumers. but with the level of how challenged our guys are, it is a really tough job. there are also individuals with not just the blind/deaf and profound, but MI issues also. are there any other agency's out there in the US that do any form of services specifically for individuals who are deaf/blind? group homes that are modified for deaf/blind, follow active treatment guide lines, etc etc. how do you do it? we have a behavior development committe, a human rights committee, a psych med review team, and are always striving for doing our job better, but with my specific case load, i feel like i am the only one out here. I just want to visit some other agency that does this (deaf/blind community living) and see if we are missing anything, if there is anything i could be doing better or different. we work with agencies that know about deaf/blind like HKNC but the DD part is just not something any of the deaf/blind agencies seem to know as much about as we do, and i keep thinking there has got to be someone else out there who is doing this to so we can info share!! krzykowskil@comcast.net
